Financial Aid
Financial Aid Policy and Application Information
Levey is committed to providing a quality education to all families who seek a Jewish education, regardless of their financial circumstances. Scholarship assistance is available to families who are unable to pay the full tuition for their children. Currently, approximately one third of Levey families receive scholarship assistance, in varying amounts, depending on their financial need and available funds.
The school makes every effort to work with each family to ensure that their child can receive the benefit of the unique education offered by Levey Day School. The school’s policy is that the family contribution should be, at minimum, 30% of tuition, although the school maintains the discretion to award higher amounts of aid in cases of exceptional need. Please note that there is no scholarship assistance available for four year-olds.
Applying for Financial Aid
A family seeking scholarship assistance is asked to complete an application, which is reviewed by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid/National Association of Independent Schools (SSSF/NAIS). In order to ensure priority consideration for financial aid, this application must be sent to NAIS by April 1. Financial aid awards are allocated to eligible families who apply on time. As the availability of funds is limited, financial aid cannot be guaranteed to those families that do not apply on time.
In addition, families seeking scholarship assistance are required to submit a signed photocopy of their 2009 tax return (IRS 1040) by May 1, 2010. (If the 2009 tax return has not been filed with the IRS by the May 1st deadline, the 2008 tax return should be submitted, accompanied by the most recent 2009 pay stubs and other supportive income and asset documentation to estimate 2009 income. The 2009 tax return must be provided as soon as possible thereafter.
After analyzing all information provided by the family, as well as the recommendation of the SSSF/NAIS regarding the amount of tuition the family should be able to afford, a representative of Levey reviews all supporting information provided by SSSF/NAIS and the family on a confidential basis. The school will contact the parent(s) to review the financial aid award determination.
